This March marks the beginning of our fourth year in Alaska. We had moved here to escape the "Invasion of Pavements and Parking Lots" of the Northern Californian landscape. Alaska has delivered all that she promised and much more. Given below is a series of photos shot from the same point - my living room balacony, over the course of last one year. I request you to overlook the quality of the picture or the landscape, I was trying to capture the passage of seasons from my window which doesn't have much of a view, except some pavement and parking lot. The real Alaska is wildly vast and beautiful and true-blue(actually Red) Alaskans do not consider downtown Anchorage a part of Alaska ;-)

| SPRING RAINS? The beginning - the day when my windows are baptized by the heavens above and thus get a much needed wash. Officially, the summer has arrived. But due to some unexplained stage fright it is still in hiding and we go searching behind grey clouds and stray puddles.
| FINALLY SUMMER! Ah, the fleeting green! Time to wear bikinis to malls and sun 'bake' topless in 60 degF(16 degC) weather and smirk at the visiting Californians in heavy coats. If you call us from outside Alaska, you can improve your conversational skills talking to our answering machines. No Alaskan worth his snow will want to be caught alive (or dead) indoors in this glorious weather.
| LAST OF SUMMER Hints of Yellow? OMG, No! No way! First we'll blame our eyes, then the cheap goggles from Walmart and then suspect the Chinese, exactly in that order. Why us? What did we do wrong, where is the global warming when we need one?
| GOLDEN FALL The Gold Rush season begins, lives upto its name and rushes out in exactly 7 days, there goes our Fall. All good things come to an end - Saturday markets, purse heavy tourists and the Northern sunshine.
| FALLING AWAY.... And then comes the days of denial. Nobody will acknowledge that the su***r is over and the sun is gone for good for the next six months. The adamant will wear sleeveless and shorts, visibility will increase as trees shed their leaves, people will dust their telescopes, adjust the zoom to their neighbor's bedrooms and get ready for winter fun.
| FIRST FLAKES First snow of the season, though many will act like it is the first snow of their lives and promptly slide off freeways into snow banks where they will run in to traffic jams and frantically dial 911, only to be put on hold. Highschool reunions and family gatherings have been known to happen in these snow covered highway ditches.(Today it looks exactly like this outside)
| WINTER Winter marches on, as the great equalizer. All yards will look pristine and white - the kept ones and the unkept ones. At this time of the year Aleyeska ski resort will compete with the oil rich North Slope as the center of economic activity as more and more legs will sprout skis, skates, snowboards, snowshoes and women will go on a shaving sabbatical.
| SLURPY & SLIPPERY Thaw and Freeze cycle starts with some good amount of fog thrown in. People with suicidal tendencies find this best time to visit Alaskan cites as it guarantees the perfect conditions to catch an Atkins death(slip on an icy pavement, hit your head and die).
