God's Own Country. Not [29 Jan 2007|05:18am] [ mood | refreshed ] This is the verdant sight that usually greets you through an open window or door in Kerala. Nowadays such an unobstructed view is a rarity in urban areas of the state. To bring this palm studded scene for the viewing pleasure of LJ-ers I had to travel to our famously rain-shadowed neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu. The place in the picture is about 20 kilometres south of the southern border of Kerala. Before the state reorganization of the fifties, all of this was Malayali territory, not anymore. Yah, this is that southerly bit of God's Own Country we generously gave away to our Tamil brothers and sisters. Oh, please don't mention. 15 comments|post comment
